Background: a portrait of Kwame Nkrumah composed from moments across his life — addressing crowds, the flag of Ghana, Independence Square, industry and infrastructure, and the man himself, mid-speech. A new musical theatre production marking Ghana's 70th year of independence.

Nkrumah Showboy

Cometh the hour, cometh the man

A production by Bambu Heritage Productions

Who We Are

A story too big for one stage

Nkrumah Showboy brings the life and legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to the stage — through original music, theatre, dance and the sound of contemporary Ghana. Produced by Bambu Heritage Productions, it's built on one belief: we must preserve our story for the next generation, told by ourselves, and not by others.

Our Story, told by us

A non-profit production built to educate, not just entertain — Ghana's history, told on Ghana's own terms.

History that feels alive

Music, movement and contemporary culture turn Nkrumah's story into an experience audiences want to lean into, not a lecture.

A national moment

Staged as part of Ghana's 70th independence anniversary — a story for the whole country to gather around.

Ghanaian music, Global stage

Original score meets the sound of Ghana's contemporary music scene, carrying both a nation's history and its music to the world.

Every choice behind Nkrumah Showboy answers one question: why hasn't Ghana told this story on this scale before? Kwame Nkrumah's life carries everything great musical theatre is built on — ambition, love, betrayal, and a vision big enough to change a continent. The way Hamilton opened a lesser-known American founder to a new generation through hip-hop and pop culture, we want audiences to walk in curious about Nkrumah and walk out wanting to know more.

This site will grow alongside the production — as the team, cast and creative details are confirmed, you'll find them here.
